To fill or not to fill

There are so many good reasons to infill your builder gel, in this blog I am going to take you through the ins and outs of infilling.

First off let’s break down what an infill actual is, it is as simple as it sounds, you are just filling in area where the nail has grown. During the appt you will file away any design / colour on the nail and remove any lifts that may have occurred, the builder gel will be rebalanced to ensure that the apex is still in the correct place.

Benefits

By infilling the builder gel you will be saving yourself so much product as the main bulk of the gel is already on the nail, this means you are profiting more on an infill appointment rather than removing the gel and starting again.

It takes less time to infill the builder gel as you have a good base to start off on, shorter appointment times will mean you can get more clients in your day resulting in generating more income.

If you are removing and reapplying builder gel every time your clients come in for their nails you run the risk of over exposure to acetone which can cause the skin around the nails to become dry, when infilling you don’t have to use any acetone but your clients can still change the design / shape / colour.

Important

It is important to remove any lifting that you may find as if you apply gel over the lift you can cause an infection by moisture being trapped under the gel and bacteria growing.

If you infill your clients builder gel you will be able to track the growth of the natural nail as you will see each time how much they have grown out, it is easier to get your clients in a good routine of booking their next appointment after you’ve finished their nails because they will want to keep growing out their natural nails.
