This is not a drill

With the launch of the really sleek Cuccio E-file, I feel there is still a lot of negative chat about the use of E-files so I would like to just go through some of myths that surround the negativity around a technique that if used properly could save you time and speed up at least 10 minutes from your removal times. 

Firstly lets address this is NOT a drill

Lets look at what the dictionary reads: 
drill noun [C] (TOOL) 

a tool or machine that makes holes: 

The only words that relate to the E-File here is that it is a ‘tool’ and a ‘machine’.  It is the word drill that carries the negative association as we automatically think of drilling holes.  

E-file is exactly that an ‘electric file’ 

The industry has been using electric files for many years, yet there is still a reluctancy to embrace the fabulous benefits the E-File offers, lets look at this myths: 

MYTH – E-files damage your nails

This is not true. Just like we continuously reiterate to our customers that Acrylics and Gels do not damage nails, it is the professional application and removal that is crucial.  

As with anything we do as a nail technician, if the tools or products are not used properly they will damage nails. We are a professional industry that prides our skills on education and training. The Cuccio E-file training will be available for those who feel we just need to learn more about how to use it safely.  

Every effort has been made to ensure the quality of the bits supplied are strong enough to remove tough acrylics and hard gels, with the softer bits gentle enough not to damage the surface of the nail.  

Why Are You Using The E-file on the Skin?

E-files are amazing for prepping the cuticle area, ensure you are using the correct bits for around that area, (see my guide on Which Bit for What Use Guide ) and it will create a seamless finish for your veneer / lacquer application. It should not touch the skin area outside of the cuticle.  

E-files Are Great Because: 

• REDUCE TIME of prepping and filling. Investing in an E-file may seem like a costly outlay to start off with but you will make your money back on it by cutting down the treatment times and getting more clients into your day, getting yourself a good quality E-file is the best thing to do as it will last you a very long time if used correctly.  
• REDUCES STRAIN on the body caused by hand filing which can lead to Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, arthritis and other nerve, tendon conditions.  
• CAN BE GREAT FOR THE SKIN when used with the right bit, e-files can smooth the cuticle, gently exfoliates the skin and reduces calluses.  
• REMOVES HARD TO REMOVE Acrylic & Hard Gels especially the alien brands that clients do not know which they have had applied.  

Importance Of Training & Education

The most important thing to ensure you are qualified to use an E-file. They can be damaging to the clients if they are not used correctly, you can cause some serious damage. Make sure that you have the right training and insurance before you use it on your clients, practice as much as you can and make sure that you feel 100% confident in using it.
