Here are the answers to some of our most common builder gel questions.
Apply a thin layer of the builder gel as a base layer & cure, this will act as your base layer, if you find your clients need a little bit of extra strength on the nail then you can apply a base layer of the rubber base/universal base, this will help with extra adhesion to the natural nail & will improve the longevity of the gel.
Yes! We recommend an infill every 2-3 weeks depending on how your clients retain the gel, when infilling just be sure to remove any lifts/dead skin from the nail, file down enough of the gel so that the nail doesn’t end up looking too bulky and ensure that the apex is still in the stress zone of the nail.
Yes, you can apply builder gel on a tip/extension however I would recommend it to be a shorter tip/extension as its what we find works best with the builder gels. If you want to add a lot of length to the nail, then you would be better off using the full coverage tips with the builder gel to adhere them to the natural nail.
I always refine the nail first prior to the colour application, this will ensure that the nail is even and the colour will go on better to the nail, once the builder has cured give it a buff over with the yellow softie block to refine the shape of the nail a little, as when the builder is applied you may lose some of the shaping. Once this is done you are good to go in with the colour.

Using step 1 & step 2 is recommended when using the builder gels, this will improve the adhesion to the nail and help with the longevity of the gel on the nail.

The nail preparation wasn’t thorough enough, you didn’t use a primer, you didn’t cure the gel for long enough or with the correct lamp.
You need to apply the gel as evenly as possible before curing, allow it to self-level slightly. You can turn the handover to allow gravity to help you create the apex. You can finish the nail surface with a 180grit file once you have removed your induction layer.
