Christmas Retail Help and Advice

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at Cuccio head office and I am sure your salon is also getting ready for this extremely busy time of year.

Your clients will not only want to look their very best, all sparkly, shiny and new, adorned with the latest nail colour and hair trend, but they also want to give fabulous gifts to their beloved family and friends.

You can help!! As an amazing salon owner, you have such a wonderful opportunity to entice your excited clients with beautiful gifts as they flow in and out of your salon throughout the festive period. Not only will this boost your takings and in turn profit, but you will also build brand awareness and maybe even bring in new customers who will be the recipients of these gorgeous gifts!?!

Don’t know where to start? Let me help you . . . . . by following these simple steps, I am sure that you, your staff and your customers will have the Hap, Hap Happiest Christmas this side of January!

  1. Create a designated Christmas retail area that’s separate from your general retail area so you don’t overwhelm your customers. People tend to get super stressed at this time of year – sometimes less is more!
  2. If you are on a budget, just purchase what you need and take the “when it’s gone, it’s gone approach”. If not, make sure you order enough stock to last up to the Christmas period, just in case there are any last minute buyers. If you do have any stock left over, you have options – discount them in the New Year, break them down for salon stock or individual retail purposes or alternatively use them as promotional gift with purchase items – everyone’s a winner!
  3. Speaking of budgets, customers often have a friend in mind when looking for certain gifts as well as a budget, so go for no more than 2 or 3 levels of value. Now this will depend on the area in which you are based, but stocking fillers/secret santa gifts usually go between £5-£10, mid-range up to £25 and top end around £30-£45.
  4. If you are lucky enough to be able to utilise a window space, even better – think about passers-by – your magical Christmas display might just catch their eye and BOOM, that’s another potential sale!
  5. Why not hold a Christmas event in the salon or offer a mince pie with their cuppa.  Maybe an evening to showcase your Christmas gifts with the offer of free mini treatments, a glass of fizz and a nibble or two.   Offer treatment vouchers or monetary vouchers for clients to choose themselves – these make ideal pampering gifts.
